When using AccuRx - All questions, attachments or consultations of any kind are saved to your patient record.

Appointments System

The Practice runs an appointment system, based mainly on 15 minute appointments.

In accordance with our quality contract with the NHS, appointments are split with approximately 20% pre-bookable four weeks in advance, 30% available one week in advance, with the remainder for booking on the day, though these are normally allocated after a telephone consultation.

We may need to ask you personal questions regarding your illness in order for us to determine which member of the Healthcare Team is best qualified to see you.

We do try to see you on time. If you are kept waiting please be patient. The clinician may be dealing with an emergency or complicated problem.

Please arrive promptly for your appointment. If you are late we may ask you to re-book you for another time/day.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

If you need to cancel your appointment please phone reception on 01604 611600 as soon as possible.

Home Visits

Whenever possible we ask you to come to the surgery where we have more and better facilities and support.  But if you are housebound or judged medically to be too unwell a doctor or one of our community nurses can visit you at home.

We cannot visit simply because you lack transport to the surgery.

If you need a doctor please phone reception on 01604 611600 before 10:00 if possible.

If you need a nurse please phone our community nurses on direct line 01604 259439 - again before 10:00 if possible.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

OLEA - Online Enhance Service

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new local Online consultation service, OLEA – OnLine Enhanced Access.

OLEA will be managed in-house by the Northampton GP Enhanced Access Service, which you may have accessed in the past. You can make bookings via your GP practice reception team.

This service will replace LIVI, which will no longer be available as a free service. Instead, OLEA will be managed by your trusted local GPs, who are familiar with local healthcare pathways, prescribing guidelines, and referrals. This change will allow us to be more efficient when dealing with your needs and greater control over appointment availability.

How will this benefit you?

  • Additional video or telephone consultations
  • Available healthcare when you need it.
  • Greater visibility of available appointments, allowing us to plan and allocate them to better suit your needs.
  • GPs with local knowledge of healthcare pathways, referrals, and prescribing guidelines, working to support you.

The OLEA service is set to launch on the 1st May 2025, this will be online /video and it is planned that the patient will receive a call between 9:30am and 1:00pm on the same day.   Once the service has been launched The Northampton GP Enhanced Service will welcome feedback and encourage you to share your suggestions with us, so we can continue to improve this service and better meet the needs of the population in Northampton.   This can be done via the Practice.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

Kind Regards,

King Edward Road Surgery
